Optics to School Program

The Optics to School outreach program, organized by the IEEE Photonics Society Kerala Chapter, aimed to ignite interest in optics among higher secondary students by bridging the gap between textbook learning and real-world applications. The program was conducted across various schools in Ernakulam, Kozhikode, and Kannur districts, bringing hands-on optics education to young minds.

Key Highlights:

  • Sessions were led by Dr. M. Kailasnath, Professor and Dean at ISP, CUSAT, and Dr. Srinivasan Nair, Retired Scientist from BARC and Visiting Faculty at CUSAT.
  • The professors provided engaging demonstrations and discussions to inspire students about the exciting possibilities within the field of optics.
  • The program reached over 15 schools this year, with a total of 970 participants, fostering curiosity and enthusiasm among students for photonics and optical technologies.

The Optics to School initiative reflects the Photonics Society’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of scientists and innovators by making science education accessible and exciting.
